TEHNICAL ENGLISH – ADVANCED


GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

This course provides tools for academic writing in English. Students will learn how to write a technical article and present it. They will learn how to summarize, paraphrase and quote other peoples’ ideas and thoughts. They will do written and oral excercises, watch videos, talk and listen. Besides, students will repeat English grammar structures in new contexts.

 

COURSE CONTENTS

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Composition (planning, title, introduction, paragraphs, body, conclusion)
  • Style (objectivity, clarity, formality, hedging, signposting)
  • Language functions (agreeing and disagreeing, comparing and contrasting, classifying, defining, emphasizing, generelizing, quoting)
  • Grammar (word order, adverbs, adjectives, verb tenses, passive voice)
