GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

The course will be presented with principles and methods of complex urban and architecture design in the field of residential buildings. The Studio offers detailed insight in basic design methods for residental architecture, guide lines for urban planning and housing  typologies. The task of the individual student project (seminar work) is the design proposal for complex residential structure in the city structure – from the analyses of urban morphologies to the choice of housing typology with the architetural design for different residental typologies (at least two of them). Seminar work  includes analysis ot the location, spatial and program concept, urban (situation 1: 1000, model )  and architectural design (plans, sections and facades,1: 200).

 

COURSE CONTENTS

The course will cover the following topics:

  • introduction to the urban planning and architectural typologies
  • basic architectural principles for residential architecture
  • housing typologies
  • basic urban patterns of housing typologies
  • outline of the development of housing typologies
  • reflective practices: housing typologies and best examples of the residental architecture (E. May, J.P. Oud, L. Corbusier, Utzon, R. Rainer, A. Siza, R. Erskine, S. Holl,…)
  • contemporary Slovenian residental architecture
  • Seminar project: main goals of the project, sustainable principles of the project
