SMART ARCHITECTURE


GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

During the course, the students will acquire fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge on the connection between architectural disposition and efficient architecture (aesthetics, comfort, energy). They will get familiar with strategies of sustainable architectural optimization and the importance of smart architecture. The objective is not addressed to the newest technologies but planning of efficient buildings with integration of appropriate technologies in architectural design.

The course will cover following topics:

  • Smart architecture – sustainable design, intelligent architecture
  • Fundamentals of smart architecture
  • Objectives and strategies
  • Time as element of architecture (cycles and systems)
  • Process (practice)
  • Usage of ecological materials in construction
  • Efficiency (Efficient Building)
  • New technologies in architecture: intelligent materials; 3D structures and complex layers; usage of structures in nature as a design basis (Biomimetics)
